Q4 2020 Performance of Top Navigation Apps in Brazil

In the fourth quarter of 2020, Brazil's top navigation and maps apps demonstrated diverse user engagement and download trends according to data from Sensor Tower. This period saw a mix of steady and fluctuating metrics across the leading applications in the category.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic, with no revenue reported, observed a download peak in the last two weeks of December, reaching nearly 250K downloads. Its weekly active users remained above 6M throughout the quarter, with the highest count being nearly 7M in early November.

Google Maps Go also reported zero revenue but maintained a consistent download rate, averaging around 87K per week. The app's weekly active users saw a gradual increase, peaking at over 6.3M in mid-December.

Google Earth experienced modest download numbers, hovering around 40K weekly, with the highest at 41K in late November. Active users showed a slight upward trend, ending the quarter with over 266K in the last week of December.

Conversely, GPS, Maps, Voice Navigation generated some revenue, though it remained below $220 throughout the quarter. Its downloads saw a significant drop in early November but recovered towards the end of December, reaching over 51K. The weekly active users reflected this pattern, dipping to around 45K in November and rising to over 107K by the third week of December.

Lastly, Navigation for Google Maps Go showed the least number of downloads and active users among the top apps. Its downloads fluctuated around 10K per week, and active users stayed below 30K for the entire quarter.
